Helvetia Fair

The Helvetia Community Fair Association was organized through the efforts of the Farm Club in 1913. It has been an annual event since then, except in the war years. The fair is always held the second weekend in September. It is a two day social event with the entries and judging on Friday. The fair is open to the public Saturday and Sunday. The fair is completely community supported and the people take great pride in their farming and home skills.

We welcome our friends and many visitors who attend and help us enjoy this event. On Saturday there is a parade followed by a program where many of the local Swiss traditions are presented. The 1999 program included the Helvetia Community Chior, the Little Helvetia Folk Dancers, the Adult Helvetia Folk Dancers, local musicians and an Alphorn Duet. There was a Gospel sing in the evening followed by a square dance. On Sunday there was a 10 K road race, a 5 K walk and a William Tell archery contest. The program was repeated on Sunday afternoon. The pictures were taken at the 1998 Saturday & 1999 Sunday programs.
